The PLATEAUX project arose from the ashes of Captain Toke & The Line Oversteppers, an absurdly named, west coast themed band, based in Milan, made up of friends who liked to get together and play covers of songs by The Byrds, Flying Burrito Brothers and The Band (among others). Founded by singer/songwriter Nicola Quaggia and drummer and multi-instrumentalist Giacomo Fiocchi (formerly with the italian elctronic soul projects Iori's Eyes and Sylvia), it morphed into what is now Plateaux when Nicola started to find his feet as a songwriter. Soon, they had so many original songs that sets were stretching out to close to two hours in order to make room for both covers and original material.
A few line-up changes later, a new name was picked, covers were mostly dropped from the set and a new 4-piece was born, with Nicola's older brother Gospel (real name) on bass and guitarist Lorenzo Basaglia rounding out the line-up.
With their first single, "Grand Armada", out now on Sangue Disken, the label of visionary entrepreneur Barnaba Ponchielli, PLATEAUX present themselves as a dynamic and original outfit that pays homage to the classic West Coast sound without trying to be retro, incorporating all kinds of influences ranging from Madchester grooves to grunge, all drenched in a wall of vocal harmonies and shimmering guitars.
"Grand Armada", with its lyrics referencing Melville's masterpiece Moby Dick, anticipates the band's debut EP, recorded at Noise Factory Sutdios in Milan and produced by Pateaux's drummer Giacomo and engineer Niccolò Fornabaio. The EP will be released in september on SangueDisken.

The video for Grand Armada was directed by Alberto Sansone, with cinematography by Tommaso Matteocci.
